I had been wanting to go to Joyce Kilmer ever since we moved to Asheville. I'm so glad we finally got the chance to go. It was magnificent. Really.

These roots just caught my eye. I didn't even look up to see what kind of tree this was, but I love the roots.

I did mention that I have a thing about dead trees, right? This one was particularly interesting.

Here's Lisa in the hollow tree. Doesn't it look like this should be the entrance to a secret passageway?

Here's Marshall, Annie, and I by one of the smaller big trees. (Smaller big trees?)

As you go deeper into the forest, the trees get bigger and bigger. This one was about medium, I guess.

These trees weren't just big around; they're very tall, too. I think this one was about 100 feet tall.

This was biggest tree we saw. I wish the picture could do it justice. It was an amazing tree.

More dead trees...

and more cool roots.

This picture came out rather dark, but this creek was great. After our hike, we were hot and sweaty, so we waded in the creek and splashed icy cold water on our faces. Refreshing!

Here are Lisa, Annie, and I with some twin giants.
